Through a route that begins with its cider press, recognized as a departmental project to be safeguarded by the Mission Patrimoine 2022, visitors will discover an exceptional natural site of majestic trees and rural buildings that tell the story of daily life in a castle in Bessin Normand in the 18th century.

Le château d'Amblie, built in the late 18th century, was also a camp for thousands of wounded from Caen during the Second World War.

The cider press

The building that houses the press could have had a religious vocation in the 12th century. According to one hypothesis, it could have been an outbuilding or a chapel of the church of the abbey of Fécamp which had authority over Amblie at that time.

This is the ancestor of the refrigerator.

In the 18th century, many châteaux were equipped with special facilities for storing ice or snow collected during the winter.

The large kitchen

A vestige of the original early 18th-century château, the large kitchen features an imposing fireplace with a bread oven inside.

At the rear of the château, the 18th-century latrines are an original feature of the property.

The laundry room

Situated on the banks of the River Thue , the château's laundry room features a large fireplace where water was boiled in a basin to wash clothes before rinsing them in the river.
